TRON designs Corian

During the last 2011 Milan Design Week held during April 11 - 17th Dupont collaborated with Walt Disney to create an interesting project inspired by the movie TRON: Legacy, tittled "TRON designs CORIAN".

Using the Du Pont Corian surface they created domestic-living scenarios such as kitchen/dining, bathroom/wellness, bedroom or outdoor entitled "Safe House" inspired by the movie.

With collaborations with designers like Cappellini, Lago, Capo d'Opera or TAO Esterno, it's amazing how TRON: Legacy has inspired so many products since its release including sneakers, fashion, jewellery, furniture, toys, gadgets...

A Time Lapse Journey Through Japan

On March 11th Japan suffered a 9.0-magnitude earthquake, the highest recorded in history. The consequences have been
disastrous, causing over 10.000 deaths, 4.000 injured and today around 15.000 people are still missing according to Japanese officials.
A month later, basic food, water supplies and batteries have disappeared from many local supermarkets or convenience stores, there are impositions from for power outages in many cities but all the attention seems to be centered at the Fukushima nuclear plant, suffering major damage and causing a partial meltdown during the quake. Radiation levels have been said to be higher than the standard ones and efforts are being made to try and avoid massive damage.

With that being said, there are still numerous people that need help, so if you want to contribute with the recovery there are several initiatives that range from donations, to music, to art, to fashion. Here are a some of them:

Red Cross
Songs for Japan Itunes album
20x200 Shinjuku print from the Jen Bekman project
One World One Heart T-Shirt from Stussy, Fragment Design and Hiroshi Fujiwara
Lady Gaga "We Pray for Japan" wristband

To remember how wonderful Japan is, this time lapse video from Brad Kremer captures a special view of a country that combines the calmness of nature and the stress of a busy city.

New Balance 1300 Projection Mapping

Projection Mapping is getting popular ultimately. It provides the audience with an interesting experience with stunning visuals that mixes reality and fiction.
I first discovered it a few months ago with the amazing ACDC VS Iron Man 2 promotion at the Rochester Castle in England.
Although most of the projections are on buildings or outdoor structures, it can be applied to any form.
That's what artist Hayoung Jung did, using the popular New Balance 1300 model for his latest project with really nice results. As always, it's interesting to see new forms of creativity being aplied to our everyday lives.

Fashion + Luxury + Urban + Internet?

What happens when you try to mix all 4 words into one concept? Well, some people might find it difficult to answer the question but it certainly isn't Hermes case.

The French house tries to appeal to a new and younger audience with this viral video created by Alexis Milant, combining Hermes items and finger-skating.

A quick fact: the new Angry Birds Rio (to promote the new animated film Rio from the Ice Age creators), got 10 million downloads in just 10 days. And the regular version claims to have more than a hundred downloads. Amazing right?

And it's just not staying on your smartphone, as it has been announced that the game will be available next May on Facebook, and there are plush toys, screensaver, mousepads... The list goes on and on and eventually will continue as it gets more market notoriety everyday. Check out this "movie trailer" to understand the phenomenom.
